8 min read Advanced Updated Jun 2026

Argentina's PSAV registration regime is one of the most comprehensive in Latin America — and one of the least understood. • CNV registration requirements — complete document checklist, entity requirements, compliance officer obligations
  • AML/CFT program framework — minimum program requirements per Resolucion 994/2022 and UIF Resolution 156/2018
  • KYC/CDD procedures — customer due diligence levels, enhanced due diligence triggers, politically exposed persons (PEP) screening
  • Transaction monitoring setup — rules-based and pattern-based monitoring requirements, SAR/ROS filing obligations
  • Ongoing CNV and UIF reporting — quarterly reports, unusual transaction reports, annual compliance certifications

Frequently asked questions

What is a PSAV in Argentina?

A PSAV (Proveedor de Servicios de Activos Virtuales) is any company providing services involving the exchange, transfer, custody, administration or issuance of virtual assets. In Argentina, PSAVs must register with the CNV and comply with AML/CFT requirements. Operating without registration carries significant penalties.

What does PSAV registration require?

Registration requires: a local legal entity, a designated compliance officer, a complete AML/CFT program, KYC/CDD procedures, transaction monitoring systems, and cybersecurity documentation. The compliance infrastructure must be in place before applying — not after approval.

How long does PSAV registration take?

Typically 3–6 months from application to approval, depending on the completeness of your compliance program documentation and CNV processing times. The kit includes a 90-day implementation roadmap to get you to the filing stage.
